Our Farm Story

Discover the rich history, mission, and dedicated team that make Sawyer Farms a unique wedding and event destination.

A Place for Every Celebration

Sawyer Farms is where unforgettable moments happen. Just outside New Orleans, our family-owned farm is perfect for weddings, special events, and seasonal fun. From our charming chapel to blueberry picking and more, every visit is filled with beauty, joy, and Southern hospitality.

Our Story

Sawyer Farms, and everything that has grown from it, was always just a dream. It's become a reality thanks to a fiercely loyal and hardworking husband who truly believes anything is possible. He supports every idea and endeavor I set out on, no matter how big or small.

Sawyer Farms was one of the big ones.

When I first met my husband, I realized he tells stories with such incredible detail that I gave him the nickname, Mark Twain. After the purchase of the farm in 2013, we decided Sawyer Farms was the perfect nod to our very own Mark Twain, Shawn.

It started out with a lot of cleaning and building our house. Getting 300 acres of land that sat vacant for 20 years in working condition was no small feat, but Shawn and I were up for it.

Fast forward 8 years and here we are in 2021 ready to share everything we've built with you. We are so excited to have you continue this journey with us!

With love,

Discover Our Rich Farm History

Historic Church Windows

The chapel at Sawyer Farms is a true centerpiece, featuring stunning antique church windows that bring timeless beauty and a sense of history to every ceremony. These windows add a touch of old-world charm, filling the space with warm, natural light.

Civil War Railroad History

A piece of history runs right through the farm—an old Civil War-era railroad once cut across the property, and its berm still remains today. This connection to the past adds depth and charm to the landscape, blending history with the farm’s natural beauty.

A Landscape with Deep Roots

The land at Sawyer Farms has been home to towering trees for over a century, standing as silent witnesses to its transformation. What was once untouched for decades is now a thriving space where new memories are made, surrounded by history and nature.

Racehorse Rescue Program

Sawyer Farms' racehorse rescue began with a single injured horse saved from euthanasia, sparking a mission that has since rehomed over 20 retired racehorses. Now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the farm provides horses with 300+ acres to roam.
